Marilyn Oliver, 81, of Akron, passed away at home with family at her side on January 17, 2019. Marilyn was born January 23, 1937 to the late Dorothy (Hamrick) and Kenneth Cole.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Clyde Oliver Sr. She will be dearly missed by her eight children, Rick (Mary Lou), Lynn, Kenny (Marie), Gary (Sheri), Cliff, Clyde, Bo (Kevin) Williams, and Lori Boutin; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and family friend, Bob (Chris) Humphrey.
She also leaves behind her sister and best friend, Dottie; brothers, Bud (Cathy), Kenny Lee, Charlie, Pat (Sue), and Jeff (Darlene); brothers-in-law, James Oliver and John (Mary) Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. Mark Smith and Katie for many years of care and concern.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Clark Boutin; great-grandson, Hunter Allen; brother, Randy Cole; and sister, Margaret King.
Marilyn retired in 2004 from ASCAA Head Start after 37 years of service, most of which was spent driving Head Start busses. Marilyn was Mom, Ma, Grandma, Ma'am, and Merle to so many. She loved to travel, go to casinos, attend festivals with her bluegrass family, and mostly to have her family together for Sunday dinners, where she cooked the best family meals, including her famous chicken and dumplings, and homemade buttermilk biscuits. The more the merrier at the table.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday January 22, 2019 from 6pm until 8pm, and again on Wednesday from 10am until 11am at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service will take place on her birthday, Wednesday January 23rd at 11am, officiated by Pastor Duane Ray. Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
