Marilyn Jeanette {Nervo} Shimko

Marilyn Jeanette Shimko, 87, of Akron, passed away on November 23, 2024. A lifelong resident of Akron, Marilyn was born to the late Stephen and Teresa {Tothy} Nervo.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband James M. Shimko, their sons James S. and Todd Shimko, and brother Robert Nervo. 

Marilyn is survived by her loving grandchildren Danette (Gary) Prather, Kalli (Kevin Berling) Shimko and Cory Archer; aunt Mildred "Della" Nervo; sister Margie (Shawn) Bayes; great-grandchildren Dustin Archer, Kyle and Brandon Prather; brother-in-law Bob (Mary) Shimko; many nieces and nephews and their families. 

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, December 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St. Akron, OH 44312 on Friday, December 13th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Michael Williamson officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery, where Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband.
