Marion Paul Romo
Marion Paul Romo, 95, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at his home with family in Springfield Township. He now is reunited with his wife of 70 years, Helen, who preceded him in death in November.
Paul was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Salamanca, Spain, son of the late Joseph and Amelia Romo. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Encarnation Suarez, and granddaughter, Wendy Renee Romo. He is survived by his five children, Sandra (Jay) Carano, Ray (Susan) Romo, Roy Romo, Shelley (Larry) K'Meyer, and Linda Menyes, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Paul came to the United States with his family through Ellis Island when he was 4 years old. He graduated from Atwater High School, attended classes at the University of Akron, and worked for Akron Standard Mold for 36 years before retiring. He loved to travel, golf, swim, and spend time outdoors, especially working in his garden. And he had a great sense of humor, always quick with a joke.
The family gives special thanks to Suzanne, a nurse with Grace Hospice and all the excellent caregivers for the loving care and assistance they provided to Paul and his family.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11-12 at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd. followed by a 12 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospice of Ohio, 16600 Sprague Road, Suite 90, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130.
