Marjorie H. Halay, 81, passed away on May 7, 2008. She was born on May 30, 1926 in Canton, OH to the late Joseph and Helen Hunter. Marjorie was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church, and enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and crafts. She will be remembered as a jolly and cheerful individual. Her family was her world and she treated all children as though they were her own. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Halay, Sr.; brothers John, Bernie, Ralph, and Dale; and sister Delores. Survivors include daughters Mary Wortman and Sue Roszkowski; sons Paul (Sharon), George, Jr., David, Robert (Laura) Halay, and Ken Hunter; grandchildren Shawn, Tammy, Tonia (Patrick), Robbie, April, Scarlett, Leila, Carissa, and Alexa; great-grandchildren Dylan, Ethan, Blake, and Alex. Calling hours will be Sunday, 4-7 p.m. and Monday, 9-11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral Mass Monday, 11:30 a.m. at St. Martha Catholic Church. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
