Mark A. Mitchell

Mark Allen Mitchell, age 71, of Akron, passed away on Thursday October 10, 2024, due to complications related to lung cancer. He was born in Fort Lee, Virginia on April 21, 1953, while his father was stationed in the military. 

Throughout childhood, Mark and his sister Sherry attended many schools since their father relocated their family often. After high school, Mark went to trade school and became a journeyman electrician spending a career in the field. Mark was initiated as a member of Akron’s IBEW local 306 in 1974 and retired in 2016. Mark had a knack for collecting things and thought everything had a repurpose value. Mark questioned everything around him. 

He was preceded in death by his father Bob W. Mitchell; mother Donna (Rhoades) Speegle; step-father Wallace Speegle; and sister Sherry Bodner.

Mark is survived by his youngest sister, Racheal Koeneman, and her family; his long-time companion, Carol Powell; dear friend, Danny Atkinson; friend and neighbor, John Lindesmith; his son Eric Gajovski; his beloved cat Dinky; and other relatives and friends. 

Cremation has taken place and his final resting place will be Hillside Memorial Park. A graveside service will occur at a later date.
