Mark Rodger Swingle, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, at the age of 72. Over the last several months his health rapidly declined due to liver cancer and multiple chronic health conditions. Mark passed peacefully in his sleep after spending the day surrounded by his loving family at the Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care Center in Akron, Ohio.
Mark was born in Canton, Ohio on June 8, 1948, to late father Donald Lee Swingle and mother Hazel Irene Swingle (Bolduce). His parents relocated to San Bernadino, California in 1955 while expecting their second child. Mark was the oldest of two children.
Mark met his former wife Kathy Swingle (Bennett) in 1973. They were married on November 29, 1973 in Akron, Ohio where they raised three children: Sylvia, Mark, and Amanda. Mark worked for MAC concrete as a cement mixer driver for 10 years in Akron, Ohio. After his divorce in 2009, Mark moved to Ravenna, Ohio to be closer to his youngest son. In 2011, Marks "best bud" and youngest son passed away suddenly. In 2016, he moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to live with his oldest daughter and her fiancé where he stayed until his final weeks of life. He attended the Victory Life Church in Stow, Ohio where he recently reaffirmed his faith in God.
Mark was loved by so many and will be forever missed. Anyone that knew him will tell you that he was fearless and loved to test the limits. Mark had many struggles over the years but in the end the man he became was someone you would be honored to know. He was a hard- working and a good provider for his family. He was always the first one to offer help when his loved ones were in need. He never missed a birthday or a Christmas gift for his children and grandchildren. He would sit with his grandchildren and color for hours. Mark loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He could build one from scratch and had one most of his life. He also had a great love for animals, especially those in the wild. He had names for all of the squirrels and chipmunks that frequented the yard. He loved to sit outside and wait for the Hawks that would occasionally make an appearance looking for food but then he would mourn for weeks when that food was the little bunny he had been feeding. Mark also loved to help his oldest daughter with her flower garden. He would run to the other side of the house in excitement to tell you one of the Hibiscus flowers had bloomed. One of his final wishes was to plant a small tomato garden. He was so excited to watch them grow and help water them. He also enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, and travel.
Mark is survived by his former wife of 36 years Kathy Swingle (Bennett) and fiancé and friend to Mark, Gary Lee Gotti; his son Johnathan Jay Anthony and wife Rose Angelica Anthony (Peralta Peredo); his two daughters, Sylvia Prokop (Swingle) and her fiancé Paul Hulgin and Amanda Oleta Swingle; his grandchildren Jessica Kaye Anthony, Trevor Jon Anthony, Sara Alyssa Anthony, Arielle Paige Swingle, Tristan James Prokop, Madison James Prokop, Nicole Elizabeth Swingle, Amber Marie Swingle, Xander Martin Swingle, Gisella Haydee Marie Torres, Julian Samuel Torres, Gabriella Oleta Torres; great-grandchildren Hadley Irene Swingle, Greysyn Michael Rodger Mick, Amiya Jazlynn Marie Lomax, and Amiyen Eugene Mykal Lomax; brother David Lee Swingle and his wife Cindy Swingle (Gentry); nieces Suzanne Renee Swingle and Jennifer Ann Vogel (Swingle)
