Marlene M. Van Pelt Brooks

Marlene M. Van Pelt Brooks, 84, passed away unexpectedly April 19, 2021. Born in Brackenridge, PA on May 12, 1936 to Walter and Etta (Scholl) Mohney, she grew up in Akron and later lived in Stark County. Marlene loved animals, puzzle books, watching TV and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by spouses, Gene Van Pelt, Chuck Brooks; son, Dennis Van Pelt; sister, Carol Tyson. She will be sadly missed by children, Debbie (Roger) Lamp, Cheryl Van Pelt, Russ (Debbie) Van Pelt, Lois Van Pelt, Marie Van Pelt; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; 3 great great grandchildren; siblings, Lois Jones, Colleen Gerhart, Butch (Carolyn) Mohney; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, April 26, 2021 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Due to Covid 19 concerns please expect to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
