Marnie Anne Massie, age 56 of Akron passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022. She was born in Alliance, Ohio on February 13, 1966 to Joseph (Susan) Lamielle and Carol {Sotcan} Morehead.
Marnie was preceded in death by her first husband Frederick Myles McVey.
She will always be loved by her husband Todd Massie; children Cedric King and Jessie McVey; step-sons Edward (Sarah) Massie and Daniel (Brittney) Massie and their families; step-daughter Holly Blanchard; granddaughter Shaelynn Ison; parents Joseph (Susan) Lamielle and Carol Morehead; brothers Douglas (James Cobler) Lamielle, Patrick Lamielle and Dakota (Kaitlin) Lamielle; sisters-in-law Glenda Massie and Belinda (David) Moore; brother-in-law Robert Massie; aunt Jane (William) Bon; cousin Bill (Sena Hong) Bon and many other dear cousins; best friends Sam (Sunnie) Ferracane.
Marnie graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1985, and attended the University of Akron. She served as a social worker for Akron Summit Community Action for over 20 years, and owned her own business, The Bubble Box Laundromat.
Marnie loved to cook, bake, craft, and spend time in her fairy gardens. She loved to spend time with family and friends, and was a great hostess! Marnie loved Easter egg hunts, and Jello-based beverages were her specialty. Game nights created some of her favorite memories, with Jenga and the Mexican Train Game. Marnie loved to stay busy, and her caring personality served her, and those she loved, well.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 73 North Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278, with visitation an hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following Mass, a committal service will be held at 1:15 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville, OH 44273, where Marnie will be laid to rest. A Celebration of Marnie's life will be held at United Presbyterian Church, 2819 Hudson Dr. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 on Saturday, July 23 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. This will be a casual gathering of family and friends- come as you are.
