Marshall N. Hasson
Marshall Newton Hasson died September 11, 2007 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born May 29, 1942 in Tuscaloosa, AL, the only child of Evelyn E. (Rowley) Hasson and Marshall N. Hasson, Sr.
Raised in Akron from the age of two, Marshall graduated from East High School, and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the carriers USS Ticonderoga and Constellation. He was a flight deck trouble-shooter in the Gulf of Tonkin at the beginning of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon for his support of Task Group 77.5. He also received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. His Hasson lineage served our country in every conflict including the American Revolution.
Mr. Hasson's knowledge of early rock n roll music was phenomenal, and he was proud of his son's musical ability as a guitar player, as well as his naval service and position with the US Postal Service. He took great interest in his daughter's softball training before and during her high school years, and encouraged her determination to become an RN. For the past several years he was just as enthusiastic in the progress, and involvement of his grandson's baseball interests.
Preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Merian Buchholzer; and cousin, Rick Buchholzer. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Margaret (Mays) Hasson; children, Russ Hasson and Cindy Bennett; grandchildren, Jeanette, Nicole, Megan, Eric and Aaron.
