Martha "Ruth" Farson (nee Ruble)
Martha "Ruth" Farson (nee Ruble), 86, passed away March 8, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born in September 1922 in Elizabeth, West Virginia to Robert and Gladys Ruble. She came to Akron to work during WWII, where she met and later married Frank Farson in 1946. They were married for 58 years before his passing in 2005. Ruth devoted her life to raising her family. She loved to garden, travel, cook wonderful family dinners, and enjoy all of God's beautiful birds. Ruth was a devout Christian who volunteered at her church, delivered Mobile Meals and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful, kind soul who will be greatly missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Farson; her son, Rick Farson; brothers, Cecil (Opal) and James Ruble and sister, Marilyn Forsythe. She is survived by her son, Robert Farson of Pueblo, Colorado; daughters, Kathryn (Don) Phelps of Akron; and Susan (Randy) Sarvis of Tallmadge; her eight grandchildren whom she adored, Melanie and Lisa Farson; Lesley, Robyn, and Ryan Phelps and Lauren, Kimberly and Rachel Sarvis; also her two precious great-grandsons, Nathaniel and Noah Phelps. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred (Arley) Mason, her brother Larry (Ruth) Ruble and sister-in-law Patsy Farson of Pueblo, Colorado. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 11 from 5-8 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday at Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church at 1690 Hillside Terrace, with Pastor Paul Beal officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff at Manor Care Akron and Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
