Martha J. Shepard, 87, of Akron, passed away March 4, 2006 at Akron City Hospital. She was born June 23, 1918 in Hawthorne, Pennsylvania to the late George & Minnie Drayer. Martha was an avid BINGO player and enjoyed playing cards as well. She was compassionate and caring to the needs of others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harold Shepard and a brother, Harold Drayer. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Shepard; grandson, James Shepard; sister, Ruby Quarles; niece, Gale (Terry) Hall. Calling hours will be TODAY from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday from 12-1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with Rev.
