Martha Joanne Kunkler, "Marty", age 65 of Akron, Ohio, died on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Akron Select Specialty Hospital.
She was born on December 20, 1950 in Akron, the daughter of the late Edgar Lee and Alice Malson Phipps.
Martha graduated in 1969 from St Mary High School and she attended the University of Akron. She was a caregiver by profession but a caretaker in many other aspects of life. Marty enjoyed the company of her friends, family, and her animals. Martha was well known for her feisty attitude and crazy antics. She was fiercely independent and a fighter till the end.
Survivors include her children, Dawn McDaniel, Raymond Kunkler, III, and Angela Kunkler; her grandchildren, Jonathan Slider, Jessica McDaniel, Raymond Kunkler, IV, and Remington Kunkler; her siblings, Dora Wells and Ralph (Cindy) Phipps; and her sister-in-law, Sally Phipps.
Other than her parents Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wilson; her brothers, Doug and David Phipps.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Rev. Patrick J. Barrett will celebrate Martha's life.
