Marvin Compton
Marvin Compton, 87, of Akron, passed away December 15, 2010. He was born in Grundy, VA on March 25, 1923 to the late John and Alice Compton. Marvin retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber after 37 years of service. He was a member of AARP and First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Tallmadge. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, whom he married on August 23, 1948, Frances; daughter, Brenda (Barry) Tuttle; sons, Ronnie (Rebecca) Compton and Bryan (Carol) Compton; and grandchildren, Gregory Tuttle, Jessica (Keith) Roberts, Jesse Nangle, and Kristina Compton. Visitation will be TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 199 South Ave., Tallmadge with Pastor Ken Bulgrin officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
