Marvin G. Wilmoth, "Tim", age 76 of Tallmadge, Ohio, died on January 31, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 23, 1946 in Akron, the son of the late Marvin Wilmoth and Elizabeth (nee Breedlove) Leach.
Tim graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1964 and attended the University of Akron. Tim was a graduate of the FBI Academy. He spent 54 years in law enforcement, he started parttime at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Deperament, then Springfield Twp. PD as an officer and then detective, and Chief of Police of Mogadore for 23 years. Following his career at Mogadore PD he went on to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, where he served in many capacities including Inspector and K-9; and lastly the Portage County Sheriff's Office as a special deputy for K-9.
Tim was very active in the K-9 Community taking 8 K-9's to the street as a K-9 handler. He was an Evaluator for all phases of K-9 for the State of Ohio. Tim actively participated in the sport of Schutzhund, competing at the local, regional and national levels. Tim was an active member in Countyline Hundesport Schutzhund Club. He owned and operated Wilmothhaus K-9 Kennel for breeding and training of German Shepherds. He owned Wilmothhaus K-9 Academy which was recognized by the State of Ohio to train Police K-9's in all disciplines.
Tim was also active for many years in Quarter Horse competitions. He also was active in 4H, both as a parent and an advisor in Summit County.
Tim was a classic car lover and enjoyed working on his cars and participating in car cruise-ins.
Tim loved his family and is survived by his loving wife, the former Kathy Beech, whom he married on February 25, 1984; his children, Tim (Julie), Todd (Sheli) and Lisa Wilmoth; his step-children, Beth Himelrigh, Paula (Dan) Himelrigh and Kenneth (Ilse) Bogard; his grandchildren, Quinn Wilmoth, Mila Bogard and Dax Bogard.
Per Tim's wishes, he lived well, fought hard and died with dignity and it was his wish that no fanfare be had; he will be cremated and will be laid to rest privately.
