Mary Ruth Burdette, "Ruth", age 87, of Akron, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on December 29, 2020 at Akron General Hospital.
She was born on October 5, 1933 in Kenna, WV, the daughter of the late Adam Roy and Virgie M. Parsons.
Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and she loved to write letters to people and write words of encouragement. In her younger years, Ruth taught Sunday School at the Akron Baptist Temple for 43 years. Ruth absolutely loved her family.
Survivors include her children, Gail (Mark) Meadows, Grace (Andy) Spisak, Alice (Rev. Gary) Chaplin and Roy (Jodi) Burdette; her grandchildren, Daniel (Rachel) Eckberg, Christina (Rob) Walker, Adam Spisak, Marissa (Leon) Dorado, Josiah Meadows, Samantha Chaplin, Nathan (Hannah) Burdette, Raven Burdette and Johnnie Burdette; her great-grandchildren, Audrey Ruth and Eva Mae Eckberg, and Jackson, Xander and Lea Grace Walker.
Her siblings are also surviving, Paul (Brenda) Parsons, Ruby (Rudy) Hersman and Janet Boggess.
Other than her late parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glenis E. Burdette on January 23, 2018, they were united in marriage on April 18, 1953; her siblings, Ora Kate Burdette, Willadeen Skeen Poling, Mayford, Marshall and Rhondus Parsons.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Connect Church, 578 Killian Road, Akron, Ohio 44319, where her son-in-law, Rev. Gary Chaplin, will celebrate Ruth's life.
Family and friends may visit at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Monday.
For those attending, we ask that YOU ADHERE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING AND WEAR A MASK!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connect Church.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
