Mary Elinore Lewis, 81, of Akron, passed away May 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Salem, Ohio on May 26, 1930 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Lippiatt.
Mary graduated from Salem High School in 1948, received her registered nursing degree from Akron City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. While working there she met her husband when caring for his mother. She was very creative, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Throughout her 40 year battle with MS she was an inspiration to her family and all who met her. She approached each day with joy, patience and grace. Mary was a testament to faith in God, hope, love, and commitment.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ray.
Mary is survived by sons, Jeffrey R. (Debi) of Toledo, Gregory A. (Susana) of Wadsworth and Richard J. (Lynn) of Westerville; grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher and Caroline, Courtney (Jeffrey) Rericha and Grant; brother, Donald (Ann) Lippiatt; sister, Jayne Limpose.
The family wishes to extend their gratefulness to Dr. Ron Jones, Ms. Lois Stringer of Anna's Home Healthcare, and VNS of Summit County for all of their care and devotion.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 24, from 6-8 and Friday, May 25 from 10-11 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, at 11 with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio.
