Mary Ellen Menear

Mary Ellen Menear, 69, passed away November 13, 2001 at Barberton Manor Care. She was born April 16, 1932 in Akron to the late John E. & Mattie (McCombs) Villers. Mary will truly be missed by the community; she was a long time owner/operator of The Farmer's Market (Beaver St.) and Johnston St. (Market Produce). She was a positive role model and was respected for her strong opinions and beliefs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Menear in December of 2000, and a daughter, Lisa Marie Menear. She is survived by her son David C. Laughlin, Sr. of Akron; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki & Jerry Byrd of Akron, Cindy & Jim Thornton of Akron; sister Emma Jean (Bill) Rundell of Cleveland; brothers Chuck of Akron, Bob of Akron, Gene (Donna) of Coventry Twp. and Donnie Villers of Green; her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Shannon (Jason), Jaimie (Steve), Megan (Nick), Kim (Chris), David (Kerry), Justin, Angie, Tony (Sara) and Nick; 5 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Engle officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
