Mary "Fran" Fazenbaker, 89, formerly of Kent, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022. Fran was born on October 26, 1932 in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada.
Fran lived in Stephenville, Newfoundland where she met the love of her life, Bruce, who was stationed at Harmon Air Force Base. They were married in 1951 and then moved to Langley Airforce Base shortly after they were married. She lived in the Akron OH area for the rest of her years.
Fran was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in the yard with Bruce. Fran liked to paint, especially pictures of landscaping that reminded her of Newfoundland. She enjoyed baking and having family dinners at her house, and her favorite holiday was Christmas, where she would spend days prior baking an enormous amount of the best Christmas cookies to share with the family and visiting friends. Her favorite hobby was to sit and have a chat, with a cup or two of tea, prepared "Newfie" style. Often, during the summer, Bruce and Fran would have family cookouts, and the family would linger into the late evening with a campfire keeping everyone warm. She collected teacups and teapots that were displayed throughout her house. One of her favorite trips was to travel to visit her sister Rita and her nieces, who lived on a big farm in rural South Carolina. She loved family vacations to the Atlantic beach, where the family would rent an old house and spend their time on the boardwalks or in the ocean. Fran returned to her native Newfoundland every year to spend time with her family.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Russell Bruce Fazenbaker; parents, John and Clara White; brothers: Mathias, Wilfred, Hubert, Allen; sisters: Rita, Jean; granddaughter, Rachael Adeline Fazenbaker; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Jane Boarman.
Fran will be dearly missed by her children, Allen (Deborah) Fazenbaker, Becky Fazenbaker, Rusty (Theresa) Fazenbaker, Janie (Dawn Distler) Fazenbaker, Terry (Pam) Fazenbaker, and Margie (Shane) Skinner; grandchildren, Paula, Amy, Mary Kay, Sarah, Laura, Donnie, Beth, Joey, Maria, Rusty, Becca, Nicole, Tami, Maryellen, Ashley, Shana, Alicia, David, Brittani, and Caden; and 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
