Mary "Patti" Finley, 58, passed away unexpectedly October 21, 2021. Born in Akron, Ohio to Edward and Mona (Surdam) McGraw. Mary was a lifelong area resident, a graduate of Ellet High School, The University of Akron and received a Master's Degree in Counseling. She was a dedicated Special Education teacher for Akron Public Schools for nearly 36 years. Mary greatly enjoyed being a mom, opening her home with food and laughter, sharing M&M's with those in need, and her Irish culture and ancestry. In her younger years she loved traveling and live music. Mary was an avid Cleveland sports fan and was always ready for the next Olympics.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by siblings, Bill McGraw, Kathy Goss. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Steve Finley; sons, Zachary, Jacob; sister, Kellie (Joe) Baughman; mother-in-law, Nancy Ewing; brother-in-laws, Wayne Goss, Ben Finley; sister-in-law, Colleen McGraw; nieces, Carey, Stefani, Samantha, Malia, Eliza; nephews, Rob, Steven, Jamisen, Bo, Wesley, Everett.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 3725 Kent Rd., Stow, Ohio.
