Mary J. Putra
Mary J. Putra, loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister went home to be with the Lord and her precious daughter, Susie on December 29, 2010 after a brave battle with renal disease and cancer. Born in Akron, Ohio on May 22, 1938 to Emil & Mary (Spiny) Grizer, she was a 1956 graduate of East High School. On April 12, 1958 she married the love of her life, Michael J. Putra and moved to her beloved farm in Suffield in 1963. Mary was the President of P & P Mold & Die in Tallmadge, Ohio for 25 years, a family owned company. She adored all animals and raised many on her farm. She was a totally devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was known as "Grandma Jean" to all her family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Susie Killey. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Michael; her children, Bill (Chris) Putra, Emil Putra, Judy Freeland and Karen (Mike) Kern; son-in-law, Randy Killey; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne (John) Stollar, Edie (Bill) Seggie and Sandy Beatty; brother, Bill (Mary) Grizer. All will miss her terribly. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. There will be a brief prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will take place 11:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Randolph. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Cremation will follow and her cremated remains will be placed in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore OH 44260.
