Mary L. Bennett, 81, of Springfield Twp., went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2011. She was born in Akron on December 6, 1929. She graduated as salutatorian from Central High School where she was a member of the Honor Society and the newspaper editor. She also earned the Science Cup and the Womanhood Cup. Mary retired from Resource America and was a member of both the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene and the United Wesleyan Church (Pilgrim Holiness). She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Parsons; mother, Grace Rager; stepfather Elmer Rager; and grandson, James Matthew Bennett. She is survived by her children, Nancy Hartman, Stanley Bennett, Barbara Bennett, Daniel Bennett, and Rebecca Bennett; former daughter-in-law, Gail Frazier; grandchildren, Roger (Marci) Hartman, Lynn Groves, Rhonda (Wayne) Kartler, Rick (Joni) Hartman, Mike Horvath, Jennifer (Larry) Biskner, Mike Bennett, Misty Noble, Jason Pullin, Charlie Frazier, Alyssa Bennett, and Chris Frazier; 13 great-grandsons; 5 great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Louise Tanner; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Pat Rager; and many friends. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Visitation Thursday from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, 191 South Munroe Rd., Tallmadge, Pastors Steve Wellman and Dan Conkey officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
