Mary L. Finley
Mary L. Finley passed away Monday December 15, 2008 at Akron General Medical Center. She was born in Ravenna, Ohio on November 8, 1971, and grew up in Rootstown where she graduated in 1990. She graduated from Hiram College in 1994 with a degree in Elementary Education (Special Education Focus). She taught special education in elementary schools in Indiana and Akron, Ohio, most recently at Robinson Elementary School. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; two sons, Zachary and Jacob; mother, Glenda Ney; her three older sisters, Kathy (Paul) Frient, Linda (Lee) Mallory and Nancy (Homer) Gregory; her two step-sisters, Debbie (Pete) Mahoney and Holly (Chuck) Simpson; one step-brother, David (Gail) Ney; 7 nieces and nephews; mother and father-in-laws, Nancy & George Ewing and Mr. & Mrs. Charles Finley; and brother-in-law, Benjamin Finley. She is preceded in death by her father, Alexander Marcona Jr.; step-father, Charles Ney; her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Alexander Marcona Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. David Ulbrich; and grandmother-in-law, Gertrude Scharein. In death, Mary was an organ donor and was able to help save the lives of up to 30 people through her generous gift of life. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 3725 Kent Rd., Stow, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment at Grandview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
