Mary Berg, 92, was reunited with her family on August 6, 2013. She was born in Akron and had been a resident of this area for all of her life. Earlier in her life, Mary enjoyed her job as a waitress and later retired from Ferriot Brothers after 17 years of service. She also enjoyed volunteering in her community with Safe Landing and the Salvation Army. Some of her favorite things were gardening, walking to Goodyear Heights Park, reading the Beacon Journal, visiting libraries, shopping at Ellet Acme and Tallmadge Kmart, and collecting Emmett Kelly clowns. Mary was very fond of her friends and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Hirschfelt; siblings, George, Joseph, Casper, Barbara, John, Francis, Jacob, Catherine, and Margaret.
Survivors include daughter, Merlene (George) Jenkins; son, Mark Berg; grandchildren, Michelle, George "Geo", and Meredith; great-grandchildren, David, Nicoma, and William.

Calling hours will be Friday, 5-8 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Summit County.
