Mary Kathryn Markle

Mary Kathryn Markle, "Kathryn", age 95 of Tallmadge, Ohio, died on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Mulberry Gardens.

She was born on June 4, 1923 in Dayton, PA, the daughter of the late Reuben and Mary (nee Gearhart) Lydick.

Kathryn was retired from Ohio Bell/ATT. Following retirement, Kathryn went to beauty school and had her own beauty shop, "Kathryn's Cuts and Curls" located in Tallmadge. She enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom dancing and the polka, traveling, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Mrs. Markle was a member of the Tallmadge United Methodist Church for many, many years.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Kathy (Ronald) Wyatt and Tracey (Greg) Westfall; her great-grandchildren, James (Angie) Wyatt, Greg (Amanda) Westfall, and Michael (Mary Kay) Wyatt; her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Westfall, Samuel, Lucy, Amelia "Millie", and Elliot Wyatt. Her sisters, June Knox and Evelyn Marie (Ed) Hankie-Pearce; and two daughters-in-law, Carol Markle and Jean Markle, also survive, along with a multitude of step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Other than her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Francis John Markle on July 3, 1971, they were united in marriage on July 24, 1943; her son, John Elliott Markle on January 16, 2013; and her sister, Viola Fetterhoff in 2009.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Pastor Scott Low will celebrate Kathryn's life.

Family and friends may visit from 5:00 - 6:00 PM at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memory Care Unit at Mulberry Gardens Memory Care, 47 Steeplechase Lane, Monroe Falls, Ohio 44262.

Mary Kathryn will be laid to rest next to her husband at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield Twp. privately on Friday morning.
