Mary A. McKelvey (nee Donofrio)
Mary A. McKelvey (nee Donofrio), 57, passed away on September 5, 2006, after a courageous 13-month battle with cancer. Born October 25, 1948 in Akron, Ohio. Mary graduated at the top of her class from Garfield High School in 1966. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Catholic Church. Mary loved shopping, going out to dinner, and most importantly, her family; her grandchildren were her heart's delight. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim; father-in-law John McKelvey; and mother-in-law Kathryn McKelvey. Survivors include her beloved parents David and Helen Donofrio; daughter Vicki (Jim) Petrice; son Jim (Katrina); daughters Ann (Steve) McCartney and Helen McKelvey; brother Dr. David (Sue) Donofrio; sister Helen (Wayne) Hershberger; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit and the 7th floor staff at Akron City Hospital for their care and support during Mary's illness. Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Newcomer Funeral Home.
