It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary H. Ruby announce her peaceful passing on February 7, 2023, at the age of 88...LOVE NEVER DIES.

She was born on January 3, 1935 in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Grandville O. and Verla (nee Black) Sloan.
Mary loved gardening, having won awards for her flower gardens, she loved being outside in the sunshine. She was an advocate for animals, and had a passion for animals in need. She regularly gave to the ASPCA.
She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. Mary will be deeply and sadly missed by her children, Laura G. Dugan (J. Scott Rainey) and Michael A. Dugan (Maria Guzman); her grandchildren, Sean M. Dugan and Casey E. Dugan.
Her siblings also survive, Joyce Maione and John Sloan; her aunt and best friend, Jane Davis and her sister-in-law, Cecelia Dugan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that mourn her passing.
Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Dugan and her second husband, Joseph Ruby; her son, Daniel L. Dugan; and her siblings, Sallie, Ray and Max Sloan and Sheila Pickelsimer. Also deceased are her sister-in-law and best friend, Shirley Davis, her brother-in-law, James "Jimmy" Dugan and other family members.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305 on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 12:00 PM, where Pastor Ernie Kemppel will celebrate Mary's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or to American Cancer Society.
We, her children, would like to thank you, Mom, for guiding us and giving us unwavering and unconditional love throughout our life.
