Mary "Jennifer" Vanaman (nee Garber)
Jennifer Vanaman, 55, of Akron, entered into the arms of her Lord on October 19, 2006. Jennifer was born April 14, 1951 in Portsmouth, VA and grew up in Coventry. She graduated from Tallmadge High School and was a hostess for many years at the Tallmadge Buffet. Jennifer and Rich raised their family in Northampton. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was devoted to her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for shopping. She was a lifelong member of Cottage Gove Evangelical Congregational Church, where she sang with the Praise Team and was a member of the Ladies Heart to Heart Bible Study. She volunteered at the Christmas Bazaar and enjoyed the yearly Womens Retreat with her friends. Jennifer was preceded in death by her beloved father, James Garber; sister, Jill Garber; grandparents, Sarah and Grant Garber and Mary and Clifford Billips; and uncle, Jerry Brabham. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Richard Vanaman; mother, Patsy Garber; children, Mary Jill (Donavon) Powell, Greg Vanaman, and James Vanaman; brothers, Jimmy (Christy) Garber, Jeff (Jakki) Garber, and Jerry Garber; granddaughters, Kierstyn and Peightyn Powell; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family and friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cottage Grove E.C. Church, 3133 Cottage Grove Rd., with Rev. Jack Ward officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. If desired, contributions in Jennifer's memory may be made to the church.
