Marylyn Jean Heffelfinger, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 3, 2024. Marylyn was born on February 13, 1929 in Letart, West Virginia to the late Hoyt and Mary Sayre.
She graduated from high school in Point Pleasant, West Virginia before moving to Akron, Ohio to attend cosmetology school. Through family members, she was introduced to Dail Kay. They married in 1948 and began raising a family.
Marylyn held several jobs after Dail passed away in 1966, yet her main priority was always to be a dedicated mother and homemaker. Eventually, she was introduced through family to James Heffelfinger, and they were married from 1970 until his passing in 2006.
Marylyn led a simple life devoted to family. Her favorite times were spent visiting with loved ones and working on her beautiful quilts, which will be treasured by her family forever.
In addition to her parents, husband Dail, and husband James, Marylyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Dalette Jean Dawson; stepson, Richard Heffelfinger; and ten siblings, Hoyt Jr., Angeline, Catherine, Dewayne, Eileen, David, Imogene, Ted, Everett, and Gary.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Roger Kay; sister, Marceline Buchener; grandchildren, Ron (Halle) Dawson, Tom (Renee) Dawson, Kenny Dawson, Erin Kay, Sarah Kay, Brian (Tammy) Kay, Laura (Adam) DeAngelo; ten great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Bill Dawson; stepdaughter, Jacque Shiver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
