We celebrate the life of Mathew J. Contessa, who passed on January 25, 2022, he was born on February 3, 1931.
Mathew was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth A Contessa; and step-daughter, Constance J. Richardson.
He is survived by cherished step-granddaughters, Darci J Sanders and Kelly A (Joseph) Cannova; step-great-grandchildren, Severn A. Sanders, Emma C. Cannova, Jay J A Cannova; step-son-in-law, Les A. Richardson; and nephew, Darrin Contessa. He was a cousin and friend to so many.
We will all miss the man who loved nothing more than making everyone laugh, as well as, bestowing his kindness and support upon those he held dear. An avid fisherman in his youth and lifelong gardener, Mat served in the Korean War as a soldier in the United States Army, and retired from the Chessie System (Railroad).
A private burial is planned.
All Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
