Matthew J. Mellon

Matthew J. Mellon, 55, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. Matt grew up in Fishhook, IL and moved to Akron, OH in 1990. He was a proud U. S. Army Veteran and was a member of the DAV, where he was a state committeeman for the State of Ohio DAV. Matt graduated from Stark State as well as the University of Akron. An avid pyromaniac, he also enjoyed scrapping, watching Law and Order and M.A.S.H. and spending time with his family.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, John Wayne Mellon; sister, Heather; father-in-law, Jerry Wilson; brother-in-law, Robert Zook. He will sadly missed by his wife of 36 years, Cindy; children, Jake (Holly) Mellon, Shelby Mellon; mother, Sharon Kuhn; siblings, Rachel, Amanda, Terri, Sherry, Clay; mother-in-law, Martha Wilson; "adopted" daughters, Emily Sizemore, Sara Rodkey, Jade Critchfield; many nieces and nephews.

Everyone is invited to a memorial service Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 939 Utica Ave., Akron, OH 44312. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Matt's name to The Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis in Green, OH.
