Matthew Stephen Unger, 13, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2007. Matthew will always be remembered as an energetic and sensitive boy. He had numerous interests, including playing the drums, bowling, woodcarving, and all things Sponge Bob. He was also a member of Ellet Grace Brethren Church and Youth Group. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Marjorie Demboski. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Jeffery and Patricia Unger; sister, Elizabeth Unger; grandparents, Jerry and Ruth Unger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Roxy and Chunk. Matthew's family would like to thank all the staff at Akron Children's Heart Center and Palliative Care for their kindness and care. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Ellet Grace Brethren Church, 530 Stetler Ave., Akron, with Pastor Jonathan Carey officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
