Matthew Richard Summers, a life long resident of Akron, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2021 at the age of 37.
Matthew is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Desirea; children, Carmen (16), Bryon (15), Jacob (11) and Joslyn (18 months); mother, Sandra Summers (Greg); brother, Michael Summers Jr. (Angie); grandmother, Ann Platis; aunts, Vicki Oravec and Beverly Wright (Murphy); uncles, Carl Summers and Jim Summers (Bev); nieces, Kayla and Shelby Summers and nephew, Raymond Summers; along with many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Summers Sr.; infant son, Dylan; grandparents, Richard and Lil Proudfoot, Kenneth and Annette Summers, and George Platis.
Matt was a devoted father, husband, son, and brother. He was so full of life and his smile could light up a room. He had a passion to be a barber and he followed his dreams by opening Manly Manes Barbershop with his brother Mike in 2019. His greatest pleasure was coaching and watching his kids play sports. He had a major impact on so many people's lives. Matt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He left us too soon but he will never be forgotten. There are not enough words to describe the amazing person he was and how much he meant to so many.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2-4 followed by a 4:00 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Sherman Bailey officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Please plan on wearing a mask while visiting at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist the family in this time of need may be made to Matt's GoFundMe account at https://gofund.me/52aee2d8.
Matt's obituary will appear in the Akron Beacon Journal on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
