Maxie R. Young, 84, passed away May 20, 2010 at the Hudson Elms. He was born March 29, 1926 in Barberton, Ohio to the late John & Merle (Dunlap) Young. Maxie served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the Victory Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. He was a member of Local 306 IBEW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Young; brothers, Marty and Wayne Young; and sisters, Jewell and Lugene. He is survived by his sons, Frankie (Linda) of Akron, Jimmy of Akron and Robert (Vicky) of Lakeland, FL; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. "Thank you Maxie for the good times we all had at the Rex Hill Road Junk Yard." Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 25 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Hudson Elms for the special tender and loving care they gave Maxie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haven of Rest or to the charity of one's choice.
