Maxil J. Sargent
Maxil J. Sargent, 90, passed away on October 11, 2009. He was born in Spencer, WV on December 19, 1918. Maxil was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He retired from BF Goodrich after 37 years of service and also served on the board at their credit union. In his earlier years, he enjoyed roller skating and eventually met his future wife at the roller rink. Maxil was also a state champion horseshoe pitcher and an avid bowler and golfer. He was a very outgoing person and enjoyed socializing with his neighbors. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Robert; brother, Amba; and sister, Ellen Hoddinott. Survivors include his sons James (Janet) and David (Katherine); sister Anna Marie Reed; grandchildren Benjamin (Allison), Courtney, Jeremy, Nathan, and Jason; and 3 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E.
