Maxwell Emil August Kuss

Maxwell Emil August Kuss, 86, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2006. Born in Akron on October 31, 1919, he had been a resident for most of his life. Maxwell was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army. He was a lifetime-member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was an elder and choir member. Maxwell also helped found the foodbank at the church. Preceded in death by brothers Alfred and Frederick Kuss; sister Anna Marie Betts; son Maxwell "Max" Kuss; and grandson John Gioiosa. Survivors include his wife Ruth of 63 years; daughter Rebekah (David) Faupel; sisters Getrude, Flora Mae (Benny), and Mildred Ann (Micky); grandchildren Scott, Cheryl, Jeff, Theresa, Tammy, Catie, and Joseph; 15 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Catherine Kuss; and special friend Joe Kinder. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 139 S. High St., Akron, Pastor John Eiwen and Associate Pastor Dennis Schwalenberg officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
