Melissa Engelhart, 26, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 after a courageous battle against cancer. Her upbeat attitude and smiles during her treatments were a true inspiration to others. Melissa was a 2002 graduate of Ellet High School. She enjoyed her job at Kid's Play (Green) and the children always loved having her as their teacher. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, shopping, beach vacations, picnics and holidays, but her greatest joy in life was her 5 year old son, Jacoby. He was the love of her life and she cherished every moment with him. Melissa was excited about preparing Jacoby for kindergarten and looking forward to sharing the first day of school with him. "Melissa, you were taken from us way too soon - we love you and will miss you very much." Melissa is survived by her precious son, Jacoby; parents, Michael A. and Cathy Engelhart; sisters, Dawn (Marty) Whims and Emily Engelhart; brothers, Michael R. (Sarah) Engelhart and Nathan Engelhart; grandparents, Barbara Lute, Robert and Sharon Engelhart; nieces, Mckenna and Hannah; nephew, Zachary; and many other loving family members and friends. A special thank you to Amber (Brian) Headley for being both a long-time friend and also Melissa's nurse and caregiver during the many months of treatments. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m., Pastor Jim Colledge officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
