Melvin Carroll Cook went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 21,2021. He was born on March 4, 1950 from the union of Samuel Charles Cook and Dorothy Mae (Chavis). Melvin was a lifetime resident of Akron.
He accepted Christ Jesus as a young man and immersed himself into following after God's will for his life. Melvin loved family gatherings and celebrations. Especially when he could enjoy eating good food. He enjoyed and loved being a home improvement contractor. The excitement of work and the diversity of people kept him fulfilled.
Melvin married and is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (McCurry) and from their union was born a son, Marvin Barron, and a daughter, Marcella Gwendolyn. He is also survived by sons from a previous marriage, Lyedelle, Love and Leverett; sister, Ann Lacey (Stephen); all residing in Akron; cherished granddaughters, Camille and Aniya; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin, Michael (Katherine), and Morris.
Friends and family may visit between 11:00am-12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH.
A private celebration of life for Melvin will be held by the family. Condolences may be sent to Newcomer.
