Melvin M. Thompson
Melvin M. Thompson, 85, of Akron, passed away May 1, 2009. He was born August 18, 1923 in Waynesburg, Kentucky to the late Everett Craig & Mary Witt. Melvin served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and later worked in the heating and cooling industry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kelda; and brother, Robert. He is survived by his sons, Michael Thompson and Melvin II "Skip" (Sena) Thompson; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Contrascier; and brother, Patrick (Patricia) Thompson. A Memorial Service will be conducted Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m., Tuesday until the service begins. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to The Merriman staff for their love and support.
