Melvin L. Mackey

Melvin L. Mackey, 70, passed away November 18, 2023 with his family by his side. Born in Akron, Ohio to Melvin and Geraldine (Reel) Mackey, he resided in the Tallmadge area most of his life. Mel (aka Bud) was retired from Mack's Transmission, where he worked as a mechanic. He was a practical jokester who enjoyed working on cars, playing with his dogs, tinkering in the garage, watching old reruns, browsing auctions and flea markets, attending the sports events of his grandchildren, traveling and spending time with his family.

Mel will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Linda; sons, Michael (Heidi) Mackey, Matthew Mackey (Kelsey Craig); grandchildren, Owen, Emily; siblings, Mildred McIntire, Dave (Tammy) Mackey; mother-in-law, Carole Makebakken; brother-in-law, Tom Gardner (Jamie); sisters-in-law, Cindy Gardner, Kathy (Scott) Makebakken; many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, November, 27, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. The service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
