Melvin C. "Mel" Merrick, 75, of Stow, passed away on December 23, 2020. He was born to parents John and Edith Merrick on March 29, 1945.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Cathy Merrick, of 52 years; children, Mark (Lisa) Merrick, Tonia Koons, Brendia Merrick, SSGT Shane (Dawn) Merrick; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Garrett (Cheryl) Merrick and Ken (Beverly) Merrick.
Mel was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, from 10am-11am. A private service will be held for the family. He will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
