Melvin "Pete" Asher Overdorf, 84, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 8, 2010. His life of labor and love ended peacefully at home with his son and daughter-in-law. He was born June 10, 1926, in Jersey Shore, PA, to the late Asher and Edna (Bliler) Overdorf. Pete was a proud American and Navy veteran of World War II, and was honorably discharged in June of 1946. He lived most of his life in Streetsboro with his beloved wife, Dora. He was an active member of the Streetsboro Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher. He was employed by and retired from Portage County where he worked as a corrections officer and later as a bailiff. He and his wife Dora moved to Onalaska, Texas to spend their golden years. Preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Dora; and his son, Thomas; brothers, Ernie, Walt, and Till; sisters, Gyla, Edna, Lou and Leah. He is survived by sons, Timothy (Sara), of Akron, OH, Ted (Julie), of Honolulu, Hawaii, Scott (Barbra), Jamie (Annie), of Texas, Randy, of Brimfield, OH; daughter, Debbie, of Florida; brothers, Jim (Karen), of Jersey Shore, PA, and Richard; sister, Gladys, of Austin, TX; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
