Melvin Wallace Kimberlin, 80, of Akron, passed away October 27, 2010 at Akron General Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1930 in Jordan Mines, Virginia to the late George & Lora (Bess) Kimberlin. Melvin loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked for General Tire as a Supervisor. He was a Christian man of faith, loved his family, the Redskins and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice L. Kimberlin; brothers, Virgil, Lewis and Donald Kimberlin; sister, Celia Hooker. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Street of Akron; sons, Melvin Lee(Darlene) Kimberlin of Shiloh IL, Wallace Wayne (Teresa) Kimberlin of Kenmore, and Carl (Sue) Whitaker of Columbus OH; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise May of Falls Church VA; brothers, Leo and George Kimberlin both of Covington VA. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Victory Baptist Temple, 4167 State Route 43, Brimfield with Rev. C. W. Whetsel officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
