Special thanks to all of our family and friends for the countless hours of support and help during the final weeks of Mick's life, especially Cheryl and Bill Osgood, Brittany Simmon, Patty Alexander and Doug Smith. Born and raised in Akron, Mick attended Annunciation Catholic School and graduated from Central Hower High School.
Mick was a self-employed Jack of All Trades. Mick had the gift of gab, he never knew a stranger and anywhere he went he made a new friend. Mick was an original recycler, loved tinkering and bringing broken things back to life. His girls would say he could fix anything. Mick was quick witted to the end and for those lucky enough to know him, he always made you laugh, many times leaving you with a "Mickism". A multi-talented man, in his younger days he taught himself to play the piano, drums, and guitar. He enjoyed drawing, working with stained glass, talking around the world on his ham radio, restoring old cars and motorcycles, fishing, and working in his yard, recently mastering a new skill "mowing the grass in the dark". Most of all Mick loved his family and prayed the Rosary for us every day. He will be missed and forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Matthew Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in Mick's honor, give someone less fortunate a hand up.
