Michael A. Barbone

Michael A. Barbone, 91, of Akron, passed away at home on March 9, 2022. He was born February 1, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to the late Saverio "Sam" and Maria Barbone. He graduated from North High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, Lois, on September 6, 1952, and the two of them spent 69 years together building a family and raising their two children.

Mike worked as both an agent and manager for over 40 years at Monumental Life Company. He received many awards and trips to conventions throughout the US and overseas, which him and his wife greatly enjoyed.

Mike was an avid golfer. He had likely played most of the golf courses throughout Ohio, and he always made it a point to visit the nearest golf course when traveling. It was at Mogadore Country Club where he scored a hole in one. He enjoyed spending time working in his yard, building small gardens and working with stone. He enjoyed eating out and grilling. Mike was also a longtime Browns and Ohio State fan. Above all, Mike cherished spending time with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lois Barbone; son, Bret (Debbie) Barbone; grandchildren, Anthony (his father, Rich), Brian (Heather), David, Debbie Sue (Ryan), and Scott (Heather); great-grandchildren, Aribella, Devan, Jillian, and Madison; nephew, Sam (Kim); nieces, Kathy (Bill), Susie (Joel), Kathy (Ted), Patty, Nancy (Dan), and Terri (Rob); great-nieces, Katie, Lexi, Angie, and Angela; great-nephew, Frank; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Barbone; brother, Sam (Connie); mother and father-in-law, Beatrice and Arlie Jenkins; and brother-in-law, Arlie (Alice).

Visitation will take place on Thursday March 17, 2022 from 6pm until 8pm at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron. A funeral mass will take place on Friday March 18, 2022 at 11am at St. Matthew Catholic Church 2580 Berne St., Akron, OH 44312.

A graveside service will take place on Monday March 21, 2022 at 11am at Holy Cross Cemetery 100 E Waterloo Rd, Akron, OH 44319.
