Michael Edward "Crash" Basford, age 55 of Akron passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. He was born in Akron on May 27, 1965, the son of John and Mary {McGarvey} Basford.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, John.
His laughter-inducing antics will always be remembered by his love of 16 years Cyndie; mom "Mama-cita" Mary; sisters Merge (Gary) Freeman, Schawn Pedersen and Lisa (Danny) Sayre; children Stephanie Mikolaj, John and Robert Basford; step-children Rachel and Taylor Ware; favorite grandson Mason; "brother from another mother" Gary Hoffman; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mike was a proud American hero, serving in the United States Navy during peacetime. He loved playing golf and shooting pool, and was involved in several leagues. Mike had a talent for cooking, especially when it came to his grill. He gave the best, tightest hugs, and would always send you away laughing. Mike was the biggest goofball and the softest teddy bear of a man, with a kind word for everyone he met.
