Michael Patrick Bislich passed away on the evening of September 19, 2023 after a long and mighty battle with cancer. He was 66.
Michael was born on August 1, 1957. He grew up in the Northeast Ohio suburbs of the Greater Cleveland Area. He graduated from Midview High School and joined the United States Air Force soon after -- a decision that would define who this man was.
Michael was a man who was hands-on in everything he did -- a tinkerer, a creator, a man who could innately build and repair most things he touched. Whether it was home repair, carpentry, antique restoration, small machine maintenance, homemade gadget creation, or even working on Air Force aircraft engines in wartime, he loved to work with his hands in ways that helped everyone around him.
He was a man of service -- to his community, his country, and his family. He was an emergency medical technician, a volunteer firefighter, a United States Airman, and a war veteran. In addition to all this, he was also a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, and a hero. Michael also overcame many personal challenges and showed those around him that his life of service before self and the love felt by those who survive him are an eternal testament to the universe that anyone of us can rise above our tribulations and become the best version of ourselves.
Michael loved, above all else, his family. Every time his children and grandchildren look in the mirror, a little piece of him will smile back at them.
Michael was preceded in death by:
His father, Richard Anthony Bislich;
His mother, Dorothy Bislich Carr;
His stepfather, Robert Carr;
His sister, Kathleen Bislich Crist.
Michael is survived by:
His wife, Mary Bislich;
His previous wife Adriana Bislich;
His six children -- Richard "Rick" (Rachel) Bislich, Samantha (Matthew) Jett, Michael "Mike" Bislich, Makayla Bislich, Grant Bislich, and Eric Tasker;
His siblings -- Dennis Bislich, Lorrie Bislich Flanagan, Ervin Bislich, and Timothy Bislich;
His four grandchildren -- Alexis Bolt, Dillon Jett, Andrea Jett, and Gloriana "Ana" Bislich.
Let the good and the love people brought to the world live beyond them. Let that be the mark they leave on the universe.
Michael will be cremated and interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. His service is scheduled for October 10, 2023 at 2:15pm. He will be buried with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's memory to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
Until Valhalla, dear hero.
Michael Patrick Bislich, 1957-2023 -- forever loved.
