Michael D. Gainer
Michael D. Gainer, 45, passed away July 21, 2011 after a boating accident. He graduated from East High School in 1984. Michael worked for the Western Reserve Girl Scouts for over 15 years as a production manager of the print shop. He was a Stock Car/NASCAR fanatic, and will be loved and missed by everyone. Michael coached Little League Baseball in Copley for 8 years with his son Branson. He is survived by his parents, John and Georgia Gainer; son, Branson Gainer; step-daughter, Danielle Kinney; granddaughter, Olivia; best friend, Cheryl Gainer; grandmothers, Peg Boylen of Akron, and Edith Booth of Tuscon, AZ; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other loving family members and friends. A memorial gathering will take place Wednesday, July 27, from 5 to 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating.
