Michael H. Douglas, 74, went home to heaven on April 6, 2022. Born in Memphis, TN, to Huel and Lucille (Wilson) Douglas, he resided in the Akron/Tallmadge area most of his adult life. A proud U. S. Army and Vietnam veteran and graduate of Akron University, Mike was a retired electrician and member of IBEW Local #306. The "quintessential American man," he greatly enjoyed listening to country music and talk radio, reading, debating with friends and family, bragging about his grandkids, making "dad" jokes, drag racing, tinkering with cars and motorcycles, playing euchre, camping, hiking, going for drives, and spending time with his loved ones and his dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Morgan Douglas and Mark Douglas, and nephew, Matthew Douglas. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 36 years, Christina; children, Aaron Douglas, Abby Douglas (Mike Pieretti), Alissa Bachtel (Bob); grandchildren, Landon and Lucy; brothers Henry (Pam) and Matt; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place Tuesday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio. We will meet just inside the cemetery entrance. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Mike's name to their favorite veterans' organization or the Haven of Rest.
