Michael L. Pierce

Michael L. Pierce, 59, of Springfield Township, passed away at home on July 19, 2023. Mike was born in Akron on January 26, 1964 to the late Loye and Jo Ann Pierce.
Mike will always be remembered as a hard worker. He was employed as a carpet installer at Spanky's Carpet Outlet for over 30 years where he made a great impression on all his customers. In his free time, Mike loved to be outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the changing seasons, particularly the fall.
Mike had the biggest heart and was loved by everyone who knew him. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Elsie Pierce and Walter and Neva Shanholtz.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Gloria Cruse; stepchildren, Alan Cruse and his son, Jacob and Jennifer (Roy) Shanholtz and their sons, Joshua and Kyle; siblings, Calvin (Evelyn) Pierce, Diane Yost, Timmy (Diane) Pierce, and Lorrie Pierce. Mike also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He is also survived by numerous friends including his best friend, Clyde Oliver and all his fur babies.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dwayne Ray officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
