Michael L. Senyek, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 2, 1939, to the late Michael Senyek Sr. and Catherine Senyek.
Michael was a humble and self-effacing man, despite his many academic and professional achievements. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, followed by a MS in Chemistry from Purdue University, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Maryland.
On June 14, 1969, Michael married Joanne, the love of his life. Together they shared nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage, filled with devotion and joy.
For more than 35 years, Michael worked as a research chemist at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Known for his dependability, attention to detail, and diligence, he was awarded numerous patents for his innovative work in polymer development.
Outside of work, Michael found great joy in gardening. He loved working outdoors, canning tomatoes, making fresh applesauce, and sharing his famous zucchini bread with family and friends. He was a man of many quiet strengths—devoted to his family, ever-present at his children’s and grandchildren’s sports events, concerts, and plays. He patiently helped with everything from challenging homework to everyday tasks, always offering guidance with grace and calm.
Michael was a man of deep faith who led prayer and morning devotions with his family. Though soft-spoken and unassuming, he made a lasting impact through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Joanne, and their three children:
Holly Puhala (husband Aaron), and their children Graci (husband Jacob Mohn) and Gavin
Chris Senyek (wife Amber), and their sons Griffin and Carter
Mark Senyek (wife Amy), and their sons Noah and Gabriel
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Laverne Senyek.
